The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits recently announced that its terrestrial IoT technology, mioty, could be easily used by satellites. An IEEE Spectrum article confirms: Satellites can be a surprisingly great option for IoT. For networks that need to be cheap and low power, consider outer space.
