The mioty alliance, together with Diehl Metering, showcased the power of mioty at this year’s IFAT in Munich/Germany, focusing on real-world applications, scalability, and the new OMS Generation 5 standard.

Future-Proof Smart Metering: OMS Gen 5 in Splitting Mode

A major highlight of our presence was the technical introduction of OMS Generation 5 in Splitting Mode. We demonstrated how this new standard, in combination with mioty’s robust communication layer, provides a secure and interoperable foundation for Smart Metering and Smart City infrastructures. This integration ensures that utilities can rely on a manufacturer-independent, long-term solution for urban data collection.

Putting mioty to the Test: The 60k Messages-per-Hour Demo

To address the challenges of crowded, unlicensed frequency bands, the alliance conducted a live “Stress Test” demonstration. Comparing mioty® directly with legacy LPWAN technologies, the results were clear: Even under an extreme load of 60,000 messages per hour, mioty maintained reliable data transmission to the live-installed gateway. This performance is a testament to the unique Telegram Splitting technology, which ensures massive scalability and unmatched interference immunity in environments where other protocols reach their limits.

Industrial Connectivity with ifm

The versatility of mioty was further highlighted by our member ifm, who presented their new mioty IO-Link adapter. This demo showed visitors how seamlessly mioty can be integrated at the sensor level, bridging the gap between industrial field devices and large-scale IoT networks without complex rewiring.

The event was rounded off by an exclusive partner evening hosted by Diehl Metering.
